Happy New Year Peeps!
What can I say…I will give you the truth…
I LOVE NEW YEAR’S EVE AND DAY! These two days provide the best symbol ever…’out with the old and in with the new’. It brings a sense of completeness and an outlook for a new adventure. I love to have a new and fresh outlook for the year ahead and focus on establishing NEW and POSITIVE PRACTICES and HABITS.
I was huge on resolutions at a period of my 32 years but then I noticed that I never stick to them…why is that? I looked up the history of new year resolutions and found my answer.
According to History.com (shout of to them because they are a realible source and the History Channel has the best documentaries EVER…and the link is below to fact check):
- Ancient Babylonians made resolutions some 4000 years ago to their pagan gods. They made promises to the gods to pay their debts and return any objects they had borrowed. These promises could be considered the precursor of our New Year’s resolutions.
- Ancient Rome, after Julius Caesar established January 1 as the beginning of the new year at approximately 46 B.C. offered sacrifices to the deity and made promises of good conduct for the coming year.
- Early “Christians” made the tradition for thinking about one’s past mistakes and resolving to do and be better in the future every first day of the new year. (A special “I see you” to all those who attended Watch Night services…all the readings from Scriptures and hymn singing, and praying and making resolutions for the coming year.)
Even as we continue to resolve to be and do better…why don’t we keep our resolutions…especially since most people make resolutions only to themselves; focusing solely on self-improvement? That’s just it…we (well, I) have no one to be accountable to. According to a research by StatisticBrain.com while as many as 45 percent of Americans say they usually make New Year’s resolutions, only 8 percent are successful in achieving their goals.
So…the New Year and New Me will ask all of you to hold me accountable. Here are my Blog Resolutions…
- I will provide consistent content…ONCE A WEEK AT MINIMAL
- I will provide quality content…(call me out…via email though, lol)
- I will post my PLOG posts…more to come on that *flips hair*
- I will share my resources! I love to share the new things people are doing!
So if you are about that accountability life…continue to follow me, support me, heck…email me (ldorvil2016@yahoo.com) about new blog post ideas, feedback on this blog, etc.
HAPPY NEW YEAR and I am glad I am beginning…AGAIN!
Question: What are your new year resolutions? What are you beginning again?
